S6 E5 When You Can’t Save All The Animals

Today we are talking about a very specific type of grief. Wildlife rescue grief. Wildlife and animal rescue is a noble and important calling but not without its ups and downs. The North Texas Wildlife Center (NTXWC) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of local injured or orphaned wildlife  They help local injured or orphaned wildlife, and the public trying to find help for the animals, and other rehabbers who need help with both time and resources.

Today we are fortunate to have Rebecca Hamlin, president of the organization, to discuss the work they do and how she and her team cope with grief. Rebecca is passionate about animal advocacy, environmental conservation, and promoting awareness of the role wildlife plays in our lives.

In addition to working with NTXWC, Rebecca has a master’s degree in psychology and is working towards obtaining her veterinary technician certification to better contribute to the wildlife center and to increase her knowledge and skills in working with animals.
